Welcome |
Bay Area Folk Harp Society
The Bay Area Folk Harp (BAFHS) is a chapter of the International Society of Folk Harpers & Craftsmen. The Society exits to provide information, performance, and learning opportunities in the richness of the various forms of the harp as it is known throughout the world.
Our mission statement:
The Bay Area Folk Harp Society is a guild of professionals and hobbiests who collectively provide a pool of harp expertise, mutual support, and outlets for musical exploration in the San Francisco Bay Area. This non-profit strives to foster an appreciation of the folk harp as a musical instrument and living cultural tradition. In various forms, the BAFHS has been serving the needs of Bay Area harp players for over 2 decades.
Newsletter
An important feature of the organization is our quarterly newsletter, "The Harpbeat." It is our link to members locally and nationally to inform them of upcoming harp concerts, harp workshops, recordings, Harp Teacher Directory, a "Marketplace" column for harps available for rent or purchase, and a variety of featured articles.
Annual Picnic
In addition, the organization sponsors a yearly summer picnic to bring together members in a relaxed social setting. The food is always great and so is the "harp jam" that brings together players of all levels.
